Internship Job Title: Technology Intern
Semester: Spring 2025
Preferred Major(s): Microbiology, Chemistry, Polymer Science
Internship Type: Full-Time
Work Location: Hybrid
Job Description:
The Technology Intern will contribute to the development and optimization of Auxilium Health’s innovative wound dressings designed for infection prevention, detection, and wound healing. They will work on evaluating and enhancing the performance of advanced biopolymer-based dressings with antimicrobial, biofilm-preventing, and bacteria sensing capabilities. Key tasks include conducting microbiological assays to assess biofilm prevention, performing chemical and physical analyses of materials, and optimizing the dressing’s ability to absorb and manage wound exudate effectively.
The intern will assist in laboratory experiments focused on understanding the interactions between the wound dressing and microbial environments, testing the color changing components for detecting infection, and evaluating the biocompatibility and mechanical properties of prototypes. They will also analyze experimental data and provide recommendations for product refinement while documenting their findings in detailed reports.
Required Skills:
Background in microbiology, chemistry, or polymer science.
Laboratory experience, including microbiological culturing, material synthesis, and analytical characterization techniques.
Familiarity with techniques like FTIR and SEM is preferred.
Strong data analysis, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
Deliverables:
A comprehensive report on experimental outcomes and findings.
Recommendations for optimizing product performance based on experimental data.
Iterations of improved prototypes aligned with Auxilium’s mission of advancing wound care technology.
This project offers the intern an exciting opportunity to apply their scientific expertise to cutting-edge wound care solutions, contributing to impactful innovations in healthcare.
