Job Description:
The Intellectual Property (IP) Intern will assist Auxilium Health in strengthening its IP portfolio, focusing on patents, trademarks, and other intellectual property rights related to our innovative wound care technologies. The intern will work closely with the research and development, legal, and business teams to ensure alignment between technical innovation and IP protection strategies.
Responsibilities:
Conduct prior art searches and competitive IP landscape analyses to identify potential overlaps and opportunities for new filings.
Review, organize, and assist in drafting patent claims and applications under the guidance of legal and technical experts.
Analyze Auxilium’s existing IP portfolio, including patents and trademarks, and recommend strategies for improvement or expansion.
Research domestic and international IP laws, rules, and filing requirements relevant to the company's technologies.
Prepare reports summarizing key findings and provide input on how IP can be leveraged for business development and market competitiveness.
Required Skills and Competencies:
Strong analytical and research skills, with the ability to interpret technical documents such as patents and scientific papers.
Knowledge of intellectual property basics, particularly patents, trademarks, and trade secrets.
A background in STEM (e.g., chemistry, microbiology, polymer science, biomedical engineering) is preferred to understand the technical aspects of Auxilium’s products.
Attention to detail and the ability to handle confidential information professionally.
Strong communication skills to translate technical concepts into IP strategies.
