Semester: Spring 2025

Preferred Major(s): Biomedical Engineering, Master of Engineering Management, Master of Business Administration, Business, Marketing

Internship Type: Micro Intern

Work Location: Remote

Job Description:

Are you a BME, MEM or MBA candidate passionate about healthcare innovation and transformative technologies? We’re diving into an explorative, high-impact project in fluorescence-guided surgery (FGS) — a fast-growing field with the potential to revolutionize cancer surgery outcomes.

We’re looking for deep, meaningful analysis - not surface-level insights or recycled cookie-cutter content. This is an opportunity to uncover fresh, accurate information that sparks real “Aha!” moments for readers. Done right, this will be a report you’ll be proud of - one that the field will truly value and appreciate.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Conducting thorough research to estimate market size and opportunity (both current and future) for FGS technologies, with an emphasis on cancer surgery applications.

  • Identifying and analyzing unmet needs in the field by creatively reaching out to key stakeholders - surgeons, healthcare experts, and sales/marketing professionals.

  • Synthesizing findings into a market and technology landscape report, providing actionable insights that can guide strategic decision-making.

  • Exploring key trends, challenges, and catalysts for innovation that could accelerate wider adoption.

  • Working closely with a small, dynamic team, and a highly accomplished executive with deep expertise in healthcare technology, innovation strategy, and regulatory pathways.

What's In It For You?

  • Flexible, Remote Work: About 6–8 hours/week.

  • Recognition and Brand-Building:

    • Contribute to an emerging healthcare technology with the potential to transform cancer surgery.

    • Gain authorship credit if the research is published and potential opportunities to co-write follow-up articles for trade magazines, building a strong professional presence in the field.

  • Valuable Learning: You will gain deep exposure to market exploration methodologies in a highly impactful healthcare domain—perfect for those interested in health tech innovation, medical devices, and strategy.

  • Networking Opportunities: Work alongside a focused and experienced team while engaging with healthcare professionals, surgeons, and thought leaders as part of your research process.

  • Hands-On Impact: Your work will directly inform decisions around R&D investments, potentially shaping next-generation cancer surgery technologies.

Who We're Looking For:

  • A BME, MEM or MBA candidate with an interest in healthcare, medical technology, or strategic innovation.

  • Strong analytical and research skills, with experience in market sizing and identifying stakeholder insights.

  • Confidence, creativity, and resourcefulness in reaching out to experts (surgeons, healthcare professionals, etc.) and synthesizing meaningful takeaways.

  • Prior experience creating market research reports is a big plus but not mandatory.

Things you should know about a startup:

We are an early-stage startup. You will be one of the first members of our team, which means you will help shape our culture and build our foundation. You will have more freedom to make critical decisions, and you should feel comfortable criticizing or confronting decisions from others. It also means you must be proactive, responsible, and self-motivated. Working in a very small team also means you may feel a little bit lonely, lost, and unsupported. Administrative assistance is minimal. Policies can be unclear. Be prepared for those.
