Job Description:
Position requires CAD design competency, working in SolidWorks, Surfcam, Spaceclaim, and or PolyWorks Softwares to design and manipulate 3D solid CAD models.
The opportunity will include working with a FARO-Arm portable CMM & Scanner for design/reverse-engineering of products.
Good math and communication skills, the ability to read and interpret 2D drawings (blueprints), and a thirst for seeing how things get built in the real world would make for the ideal candidate.
You'll be involved in the "kick-off" meeting for new products and discuss the methods/materials and schedule required for the completion of the tool. The correct method of document maintenance, drawings and renderings and time sheets will be discussed and enforced.
Once designs are complete the discussion of the production equipment and the generation of proper cutting tool paths, speeds and feed rates will be determined.
The correct candidate will be exposed to the maintenance, set-up and operation of CNC machines including high speed CNC Routers, and 3-axis metal mills. You will see the "tool" designed, built, machined and the hand benching and finishing required to produce a finished part.
The time spent at Lorain Modern Pattern will also include exposure to our customers. A visit to an Aluminum or Steel Foundry provides a look at our product in action including, green-sand, perma-set and investment cast procedures.
